Wow, this is the best one. Sorry but I looking for the brand of the engine and there isn't Suzuki "frullino" made? Do you have a plausible reason ??

ahaha.. i think that frullino hasn't props longer than 23", and this rib requires at least a 27".

What about the rib selling price?

I do like this RIB a lot!

Hull is designed by Adam Younger and it's a fast hull. It is produced by Technohull in Greece.

I have tested it with twin verado 300, 6 guys onboard and did 60 knots. Props were rev-4 and with one engine in the water planning was quick and could see 35 knots.
With mirage plus and two guys onboard you can easily see 65 knots.

Rough sea handling is also good.

A very sexy RIB for men only (family must stay home )

Hi, Mdk can you explain the bigger difference beetwen this rib and yours? I' m interesting to the difference expecially to the wave impact.
At the end of march I will test new Mar.Co 29 with 2x300 Verado buyed fram my friend. I think to put on 2 Enertia 21' , what do you think about this propeller?

Ciao Federico,

1. The 999 as I said is a fast RIB (with air stepped hull) and as should be is a light one. Mine is conventional hull and heavy one.
The 999 sits higher on the waves and can go faster at same wave heights/length.
The emotion32, being heavier sits lower and is slower for same given wave height/length.
So you can't really compare two hulls at same sea state with one doing 40 and the other 28 knots.
The faster you go the more cautious and alerted must be, especially on head or following seas with the stepped hull. Stuffing is imminent. A wrong move and you pay the result.
With the emotion 32, you lower the speed and you kind of relax, steer pass the peaks.
2. Emotion 29 with twin verado 300 ... that will be some fun )212(
I would agree for the pitch 21" but would go for even heavier props like the mirage plus. I loved the enertia on the mar-co 26 (with twin verado 225) but didn't enjoy them when tested on the emotion 32.
Don't forget to make a small presentation and post some test results (on a different topic).

Mdk what you said is correct , but can you suppose a test beetwin E32 and DNA999 at the same speed , for example 30Knots, with same wave lenght/hight .
Do you have the same confort?
Regard the E29, Yes, of course I will open a post to this test.
I think that the enertia as well on the E29 2x300 like on the 26 2x225. In any cases only the the test will decide the best choise.

Federico at 30 knots the technohull 999 will still be more comfortable but if you can get safely at 40knots why would you run at 30? :D
It's like running the Emotion at 15 knots in order to compare it with another type of hull/boat. Emotion hull too likes the speed, the faster you go the more steady it is!
I would guess (only guess) that the problem for such hulls like the technohull 999 would be apparent at speeds lower than 25 or 20 knots. At low speeds such hulls tend to loose stability, rolling and pitching is more apparent than it would for a hull type like Emotion, their bow shooting high etc.

But for me comfort is not only how the hull damps through or over the waves. For me comfort is the possibility to relax a bit behind the wheel as well! And this can only be on the Emotion; a wrong move or lazy move on the Emotion and the worse would be to hit a bump. But for the faster hulls like the 999 a wrong/lazy move and a generous stuffing is there for you.

Mind you that my RIB is an Emotion32.

Always good to see the Technohull 999's in action and being used.

Been one of my most successful designs and a source of pride. Also very happy to be working with Technohull on other designs.

Many thanks for the Italian welcome :D Reminds me how much I have always enjoyed my trips to Italy. Last time was sailing an F18 catamaran on Lake Como - absolutely beautiful - and a great event too.

Anyway onto RIBs - The concept for the 999 was always to offer good top speed - but also good rough water ability and good cruising characteristics.

So I went for a double stepped design - but did the steps differently to how I would design a pure race boat. They are not as aggresive and have variable depth - a system I have termed 'tapered steps'. We may not get the very top speed from these steps, although still very good - but handling is much better and also crusing speed control is much better.

Another big bonus with the design has been it's abiliites with a single engine. Always a requirement from Technohull - but the design has exceeded their requirements and indeed my own calculations.

Otherwise certain parts of the 999 design relate back to devlopments from some previous designs - for example the bow sections are not unlike a couple of my race boat designs, then modifed to suit this boat.

Hope this explains a bit more about the 999

The 888 was a bit different in concept - Technohull wanted the fastest 9m RIB! But still to have production use and have good handling.

So with this design I was a bit more aggresive with the steps, geometry, depths and also added a third step. I still used tapered steps - but combined with a planing pad and a double chine feature.

All has worked really well with the first boat racing with a 300xs Mercury. Speeds have been better than predicted and the boat has won 4 out of 5 races in Greece against good competition. Also handling has been found to be good and rough water abilities also pretty good.

Technohull are now pushing ahead with the leisure version of the 888. I might actually be buying one myself as my new 'company boat'!
